DogViz was created by me Matthew Taylor. When me and my husband first got a dog 7 years ago we were amazed at how it transformed our experience of living in a big city like London. London changed from being a place were people keep themselves to themselves, to a wonderful friendly place were everyone would come up and chat to you in the street, in parks and on public transport. They all wanted to know about our cute dachshund Badger. It was amazing!

Trips to the park became something we really looked forward too, and we made friends with all the other dog owners.  The only trouble was knowing who was in which park. So many times we missed our friends when our walks didn’t coincide.  WhatsApp groups were OK but all too often people would never get round to telling the group when they were planning a trip to the park.

What if there was an App that knew all about all 3500 parks and open spaces in London, and who your dog’s buddies were, and could automatically send a message/bark to the other dog owner’s phones when you (your phone) entered a park?  What if they could see exactly where you were in that park on a map? That would be so cool. Also, what if you could send a pre-formatted message to all those other owners saying when you were planning a trip to the park, with just a couple of taps?  What would be great.

But it would need to be super secure! Only other dog owners/walkers you trusted should see this information. I decided early on that the information sharing relationships (aka buddies) should be at the dog level, not the owners.  That way if a dog was out with their dog walker then everything would work just the same, my dog’s buddy’s owners would be updated on park entry as soon as the dog walker entered a park.  

So the DogViz app was born.

It’s totally unique. No other App understands the boundaries of parks and open spaces in London and is constantly checking to see if you have entered one. No other App allows relationship between dogs (not owners/walkers) to be established. I hope you love the App. It’s cheap to use (a single one-off charge of £3.00 if you want to continue using it after a month long trial, no subscription need) and fun. I hope it improves your experience of dog ownership in London.
